2011 Inline Hockey Junior Olympics

U12
The U12 Team Alberta team played their first game of the International tournament wearing those amazing Team Canada jerseys. The game was against Columbia – U12 Team Alberta players dominated the game right from the first drop of the puck and throughout the game ALL players contributed in the goals that were scored. The team used this game to build confidence after the tough time they had in the club tournament – final score of the game was 14-0 for Team Alberta.
Their next game is bright and early tomorrow morning at 6:00 am vs Team Hawaii – they will play again at 1:30 pm vs the Chinese Taipai team.
U14
The U14 team found themselves against very stiff competition in the form of Team USA West today. Our boys were slow to start the game and had a hard time finding any rythym. They also seemed to be having some problems adapting to the different game puck. The goaltending from Liam Banks in this game was once again superb. In spite of this Team Alberta still lost the game by a score of 4-2.
As this was the first of 3 games today – there was room for optimism that the day would hold a win or two for the team.
Game #2
for the day found the U14 Team Alberta boys playing against Team USA Stars West. Our Team Alberta boys dominated the game offensively throughout the game even though the goaltending for Team USA Stars West was very strong. Even though the USA team had some great chances the goalie from Team Alberta was outstanding and gave the Team Alberta players the opportunity to concentrate on scoring goals. The final score was 4-2 for Team Alberta.
Game #3
Team Alberta U14 played its most physical team yet in their game against Great Britain. The Team Alberta players were able to stick to the game plan and not be affected by the type of game that Great Britain was trying to play. The Team Alberta players completely tore apart the defence and took advantage of all power plays that came their way. It appears that our Team Alberta boys have hit their stride and took this game by a score of 7-1.
As this concludes their round robin play with a record of 3-1-0, we anticipate that it will give them a finish of 2nd or 3rd place, but we will need to wait and see tomorrow for the results of the other teams before we can confirm this.
U16
The Team Alberta U16 boys had yet another day for sightseeing. From what we hear there was some shopping at outlet malls, sightseeing on the beach and hanging out at the hotel on todays agenda. They are all anxious to dawn the Team Canada Jerseys tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 pm vs team USA Stripes.
U18
The Team Alberta U18 players had a practice this afternoon – this is in preparation for their first game tomorrow evening at 10:30 pm.
