Member Teams Competition 2011

End to end action was what you saw if you were in Shouldice Arena, Calgary on Saturday, May 28. As part of the AMRHA Member Teams Program, Didsbury U10 team came to town to play the Calgary Rockets U 10 team. The Rockets got off to a fast start and were up 6 – 3 at the beginning of the second period. Then the Didsbury team found their game and scored 4 unanswered goals.  After trading one more goal each, the final score was 8 – 7 for Didsbury.

At the beginning of the second game, both teams looked a little tired, but Didsbury found their energy to surge ahead 3-1 at the break.  Didsbury kept up the pressure and the score ended up 6 – 3 for the out of town team. In both games there was stellar goaltending at both ends of the rink.

The highlight of the event occurred with two minutes left in the last game. Seven year old, Mataia Jelinek a first year player , scored her very first goal of the season with two minutes left in the game.  The crowd showed their appreciation of this landmark event when they leapt to their feet with excitement.
