Team Alberta Roller Hockey continues its remarkable growth in 2026, expanding from 14 teams in 2025 to 17 teams this season, with the addition of two adult teams and increased opportunities for athletes across the province. The expansion reflects the growing popularity of roller hockey in Alberta and the increasing demand for high-performance development opportunities.

Despite the growth, program officials emphasize that standards have not been lowered to accommodate additional teams. The Team Alberta program remains committed to selecting the province’s top athletes and providing a competitive pathway for players to represent Alberta on some of the sport’s biggest stages.

“Our growth has not come at the expense of quality,” said Aaron Glenn. “In fact, many of our 2026 teams are among the strongest we’ve ever assembled. The depth of talent across Alberta continues to improve each year, allowing more athletes to compete at a high level while maintaining the standards Team Alberta is known for.”

The increase from 14 teams in 2025 to 17 teams in 2026 is a reflection of the sport’s momentum throughout Alberta. Participation continues to rise, new communities are joining the roller hockey movement, and development programs are producing increasingly skilled athletes. The Alberta Minor Roller Hockey Association has also seen continued expansion in leagues, events, and high-performance opportunities across the province.
