Alberta Ice Winter Roller Hockey

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Rinkster Alberta Ice is the High-performance travel program for Alberta Roller Hockey during the winter off-season. the program is designed for committed athletes looking to compete at an elite level while continuing their development outside of the regular league season.

This is a travel-based program focused on preparation, competition, and representing Alberta at top-tier winter roller hockey events in the United States. 

 

PLAYER SELECTION & EVALUATION

No Tryouts - There are no formal tryouts for the Alberta Ice Program

Players are evaluated based on: 

  • Past roller hockey league performance
  • Previous high-performance or travel hockey experience
  • Demonstrated skill level, game understanding, and competitiveness 

Evaluations are conducted by program staff using existing knowledge, leage play history, and previous event participation. Teams are selected by the Alberta Ice HP Committee with the goal of forming competitive, well balanced rosters capable of performing at elite tournaments. The final rosters are determined based on overall program needs

 

PROGRAM TIMELINE

  • October 1 - Registration reminders are sent out
  • End of October- Player shortlists are created based on evaluations and availability
  • First week of November- Teams are officially selected 
  • Mid-November - Equipment is finalized and ordered
  • Mid-November - Team Travel arrangments are made
  • End of November- Training Camp dates and details are announced

 

COMPETITION & TRAVEL

Alberta Ice teams will attend one major winter tournament in California:

  • NARCh Winternationals - Mid January
  • Winter Wars (State Wars) - 3rd week of February

Both events are premier international roller hockey tournaments featuring top competition from across North America and beyond.

 

EQUIPMENT

Team Equipment is finalized and ordered mid-November. With team fees the players will receive Home and Away Jerseys, Roller Hockey Pants and a team warmup shirt. Additional details regarding required player equipment and team gear will be provided once rosters are confirmed

Will be communicated directly to selected players and families once the teams are finalized.
